Theater Work in Development

El Tesoro de la Raíz

The Treasure of the Root

A housewarming. Boxes to unpack. And inside each one — a memory that won't stay buried.

About the Work

El Tesoro de la Raíz follows Inés, a queer, first-generation Mexican American woman, as she moves into a new home and finds herself moving through the rooms of her own history.

Each object she unwraps unlocks a chapter — a devout Catholic childhood, a queer awakening, a theater life built in Los Angeles, and the quiet devastation of outgrowing the religious spaces that once held her.

Form & Spirit
The Anatomy of the Piece

The Medium

Blending autobiographical storytelling, visual poetry, humor, and ritual.

The Question

What do you keep, what do you leave behind, and what do you build when the home you came from cannot hold all of who you are?

The Core

A story about radical self-acceptance as an act of love — for oneself, for ancestry, for the complicated faith that shaped us even as we grow beyond it.

Status & Next Steps

A Reckoning in Development

It is intimate. It is funny. It is a reckoning. Currently in development, with the first public workshop reading coming in 2027.
